The winter months can be tough for people living in Malmö. Especially if you’re new to the city. The sun is absent, you wish for snow but get rain instead, the bike lane is filled with wet leaves making every ride a dangerous adventure you didn’t ask for. So you stay in. Under a blanket watching tv-shows you didn’t know existed. Yes, its sad but we have a remedy for you!
The Winter Blues Series is a set of community workshops hosted at the Riso Community Studio, created to bring people together during the darker months. Each session combines creativity, conversation, and connection, a way to warm up the winter through collective making.
From drawing and crafting to Riso printing* and storytelling, every workshop invites you to slow down, connect, and experiment in a friendly, open atmosphere. You don’t need any previous experience, just curiosity and the wish to create something together. The workshops will be held in English.
Join us for a cup of coffee and some colorful moments to beat the winter blues.
*Note that these workshops doesn’t aim to teach Riso printing. If you’re interested to learn about Riso print and be part of the Community you can join an intro to Riso workshop. Go here to find upcoming dates!
Workshop: Bookmarks & Book Talk
Join us for a cozy afternoon of creativity and connection! In this workshop, you’ll create your own bookmark inspired by your favorite book or your own drawings. We’ll sketch together, share stories about the books we love, and enjoy a warm fika while crafting.
At the end of the workshop, all artworks will be scanned and Riso printed into one collective poster. You’ll receive one printed sheet to take home with you.
No previous experience is needed; we provide all materials, snacks, and freshly brewed coffee.

Workshop: Make Prints & Make Friends – Sold out!
Looking for a cozy way to start the new year? Feeling the winter blues? Come spend a warm morning crafting and connecting!
This workshop is all about meeting new people, sharing stories, and creating together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We’ll draw, chat, and mingle while making small friendship cards that will be Riso printed into a collective friendbook, a printed memory to take home.
You’ll meet lovely new people, share stories, and craft together. Everyone’s welcome! No previous experience is needed; we provide all materials, snacks, and freshly brewed coffee.

Workshop: Still Life: Draw & Print
Round 3 of our winter blues series is here! This time, we invite you to a collective sketching & drawing session. In this workshop, we’ll set up a still life arrangement for you to capture on paper in your own unique style. You’re welcome to explore different drawing techniques and get inspired by the cool art of others.
At the end of the session, all drawings will be scanned, Riso printed, and compiled into a collective artwork folder. Everyone will receive their own printed collection to take home.
No previous experience is needed; we provide all materials, snacks, and freshly brewed coffee. You’re welcome to bring your own materials if you’d like to work with a specific technique, and participants with digital Riso printing experience can also bring their laptops or drawing tablets.
